From submarines
to Stoker Crafts.

Brownie spent 20 years in the Royal Canadian Navy, much of it aboard submarines. Even then, woodworking stayed part of his life: he kept his own woodshop and spent his time ashore building furniture for family and friends.
Brownie also holds an engineering degree, and his years at sea shaped how he thinks about a project. Life aboard a submarine meant taking complex problems, working within real constraints, and building solutions that had to work reliably.
Combined with his appreciation for wood and building things by hand, that mindset carried naturally into increasingly ambitious woodworking projects. What began as a serious hobby eventually became something more.
A few years ago, Brownie brought that experience, and years of woodworking, together to start Stoker Crafts.
